Russia upset Swedish Games hosts

Russia’s hockey squad have collected a comfortable 4-1 win against host nation, Sweden, in their second game at the Oddset Hockey Games.

The teams exchanged goals in the first period, with Ilya Nikulin opening the score for guests and Karl Sederberg equalizing for Sweden, 1-1.

But it was all Russia in the remainder of the match as Zinetula Bilyaletdinov’s charges converted their first powerplay chance of the night to regain the lead on the 22nd minute.

Unmarked Sergey Mozyakin gave keeper, Johan Gustafsson, little chance after a clever pass from, Aleksandr Radulov, 3-1.

Evgeny Kuznrtsov doubled Russia’s lead five minutes later, being first on the rebound after the puck ricocheted from one his teammates.

The final score was settled in the third period, with Dmitry Kazionov adding his name to the scoreboard.

Russia’s second win out of two at the Swedish Games allowed them to increase their lead in the overall Euro Hockey Tour standings.

Russia have 18 points after eight games, with Finland and Czech Republic, who share the second spot, 8 points behind.

Russia complete their Swedish Games journey with a clash against the Czechs on February 10.
